Hey everyone! A few weeks ago I showed Frutique’s Papaya Enzyme Exfoliating Gel in a Sally’s haul,
Here is the link to that:
https://themakeupaffair.wordpress.com/2013/05/03/fotdootd-sallys-haul/
I’ve been trying it out and I just had to update you guys on it..
Let me start by showing what the directions say:
“Gently massage onto clean dry skin in a circular motion for 30-60 seconds until dead skin cells appear in flakes. Rinse with warm water, twice weekly.”
Okay, first of all… The directions say to apply this to dry skin, which I thought was odd because there aren’t many gel exfoliators that are applied to dry skin…… So anyways, once you apply this, immediately “dry skin cells” start rubbing off.. You’ll see in the picture below (not a pretty sight, this is a warning ahead of time LOL)… Now, the reason I put dry skin cells in quotations is because I am not 100% sure what comes up on your skin are actually dead skin cells… I honestly think it is something they put in the product to make it appear that way. One, because it happens immediately… And exfoliation just doesn’t work that way. Whether it’s an enzyme exfoliator or one with exfoliating beads, you have to work it in your skin for any of that to happen… These “dead skin cells” literally show the second you begin massaging this into your face.. They absolutely do look and feel like rolled up balls of skin cells, but I don’t believe they are.. Another reason aside from it happening immediately, my skin didn’t feel any softer and there was no texture difference which is another huge indication that this product doesn’t really do what it says.
Lastly, if you have ANY peach fuzz/whatever you want to call it – on your face, these “dead skin cells” will cling to them! Even rinsing your face with water will not remove them, and you have to literally pick them off of your face (which is painful). After I did this for the first time, I was so confused at that happening I looked up reviews.. One blogger posted that the same thing happened to her the first time, but not again after that.. So I thought okay, I’ll try this again in a few days.. Sure enough, it has happened every single time since.. And it’s not like my face is hairy or anything LOL just the typical peach fuzz that every woman has.. I just don’t understand this product and I will absolutely be returning this within the next few days.
So here’s you can see it’s in a gel form, but those little bubbles could be cause of these so called “dead skin cells”..
This is what happens almost instantly after you begin rubbing it into the skin.. It really does look like it works (it had me fooled at first, for sure)… But trust me, it doesn’t! This product is all for show, DO NOT waste your money on this!

eww! Have you tried rubbing this on a non skin surface to see if the same fake skin stuff comes up? Like the wall or table? lol Thanks for the review!!!
It does come up, but if you even rub it between your fingers a lot shows so it’s hard to tell if it’s from the table or your fingers.
Even if they are really dead skin cells, I’ll choose another product over this one any day because it literally sticks to your skin! My cheeks/jawline were red after from picking everything off 😦
Yikes! What a strange product. I’ve heard of these and people have said they really deep clean pores, but looks like I’ll pass on this one. Thanks for the warning!
I heard the same! I thought for sure I’d love it, maybe after some time it would work but it is painful to pick off every piece so it wasn’t even worth it to me. Pretty disappointing!
