Physician’s Formula Conceal Rx Concealer Review & Comparison:

Hello beauties!

I’m always on the search for the “perfect” concealer.. It’s one of my favorite products to try and although my collection is growing, I still find it hard to find one that I really love; one that can take the all-mighty Holy Grail title.

Last week CVS had a 40% off all Physician’s Formula products and after hearing great things about one of their concealers, I wanted to give it a try.

Physician’s Formula Conceal Rx Physician’s Strength Formula concealer – $9.55 on the site and $9.79 at drugstores.. I rarely buy anything from PF unless it’s on sale or if I have coupons. CVS does deals all the time so be sure to keep an eye out for them!

Description on the site: “Maximum coverage concealer formula that glides on smoothly to conceal blemishes, dark under-eye circles, scars, birthmarks, age spots, bruises, rosacea and hyperpigmentation. Concentrated formula lasts up to 12 hours!”

As you can see from the packaging, there are quite a few heavy claims for this product.. Hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, oil-free and Dermatologist approved. It says it can cover blemishes, scars, under-eye circles, birthmarks, age spots, bruises, rosacea and hyperpigmentation. Also that it is maximum coverage, maximum comfort, ultra-long wearing and has a natural smooth finish with no-mask effect.

I don’t know about you, but I love getting my hands on products that claim to do this much! It’s like the makeup version of mythbusters 🙂

So, we’ll start with the rundown of this product and then move to my product comparison…

The first issue I have with this product… There are only 4 shades, two skin tone shades and then two corrector shades! Fair Light, Natural Light, and then a Soft Yellow and Soft Green shade….. Fair Light and Natural Light? You can’t even give a deep shade so we can mix and match?…. Yeah, it sucks.

The packaging is okay, but I wish you could see the product. The shades are all in this same color packaging so you can’t tell the difference.

I got Natural Light, the deepest shade…. I’m pretty pale even when I’m tanned and this is still too light for me.
But….. Despite that, I love the product.

You need the tiniest bit, so the tube will last you forever. The consistency is really thick, it covers flaws like a dream and it blends out really nicely. Because this shade is too light for me, I apply this under my foundation!
If you aren’t a fan of heavy concealers, this probably isn’t for you. I definitely would not use this for under the eyes. I haven’t tried it but I imagine it would crease terribly. I love this for blemishes, scars and dark spots.

Now, for the comparison… You can probably guess what it is.

Hard Candy’s Glamoflauge concealer (I have it in the shade Light, too light for me).. Very popular and super cheap. You can find Hard Candy at Walmart and this concealer is only $6. There are 5 shades ranging from Ultra Light up to Tan, again unfortunately nothing for the deeper skin tones.
It has pretty much the same claims as the PF one, a heavy duty concealer that can cover pretty much anything.
There is 0.71oz of product in the Glamoflauge concealer and 0.49oz in PF’s… Quite the difference, especially when it is a few dollars cheaper as well.

Left – Hard Candy’s Glamoflauge & Physician’s Formula Conceal Rx on the right.
Conceal Rx is a slightly thicker formula and because of that, I find it covers better than the Hard Candy one. But once it’s on and blended, I’d say it’s pretty impossible to tell the difference. You definitely don’t need both. I prefer Conceal Rx for days when I have bad breakouts and really need that full coverage. On days when I don’t have much to cover, maybe just some dark spots, I use the Glamoflauge.. I find that it’s easier to thin out so it doesn’t feel as heavy.
I’d say they both live up to the claims made, although I wouldn’t recommend either one for under-eye circles. These are definitely more for covering any flaws, blemishes, dark spots, tattoos, etc.
So, unfortunately for anyone with a darker skin tone, these products won’t work for you 😦 I’m really hoping they both come out with darker shades!!
If you want super full coverage and a more thicker formula, I’d recommend Conceal Rx! But if you are new to concealers or want something less heavy feeling, go for the Hard Candy Glamoflauge. Really, you can’t go wrong with either one. They are both amazing! I find that neither one clogs my pores or breaks me out, which is great and the coverage on both is fantastic.
Thanks for reading, have an amazing day!!! Feel free to leave a comment with any review requests you’d like to see!
