“You work so hard, just to end up at home crying yourself to sleep; remember you’re trying, you are moving mountains that have plagued you since you were young, and you’re trying so hard. Keep fighting, fight until you have won. Fight until you have found your way home, until the sun comes back and your heart learns to love mornings again.”

Hey lovers! Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate!
Today’s review is of a Paula Dorf eyeshadow palette. I’ve heard of this brand before (an Allure Best of Beauty winner!) but have never tried it so I was excited to play with this!
This is the Aztec City Eye Color Palette. It contains 5 eyeshadows, two mattes and three satin/shimmers and costs $36.
Use the code TEAL to receive a free teal mascara with your purchase! I’ll show the mascara in the review as well. It’s so fun!
The palette is nice and sleek, plastic packaging and it feels sturdy.
You get a mirror as well as a double-ended brush.
The brush is surprisingly great quality! One end is a fluffy blending brush…
And the other is an angled liner brush. Both are soft and made well.
The only shadow I had trouble with is the first shade. The first two shades on the left are that shade. First, with no base and second with NYX’s white eyeshadow base underneath. I found it gave off more of a sheen but not much color. It works as a brow bone highlight but a very faint one. The other shades have fantastic pigmentation.
The blue shade is definitely the stand-out in the palette.. I’m not one to wear blues often, but this one is so unique.. It has green and gold reflects that just really make this shine! It appeared more green on my lids (you’ll see in photos below) and it can definitely change depending what base underneath. The next shade is a stunning taupe with a beautiful shine to it. It’s another unique shade to my collection. And the next two are matte browns. The lighter shade is perfect for a blending shade and the second for darkening the crease and outer-v.
I blurred the BEJEEZUS out of my brows because I am attempting to grow them out and they are just untamable right now. Sooooo bad! Ignore them!!! haha
***Let me know how the quality of these photos are in the comments below… On my phone they look great but on my computer they look really blurry!!!***
MAC Painterly Paint Pot as my base – I used the light tan shade as a transition and blending color, applied the blue shade to my lids and then the dark brown to my outer-v and slightly into the crease. Also, on my bottom lash-line is dark brown shade and the teal mascara, although it doesn’t show up much in photos.
The mascara comes in beautiful packaging, simple black and also sleek.
The brush is a nice size, small enough to fit on that lower lash line. I do with the bristles were a bit closer together because they didn’t add as much volume as I had hoped but it does the job.
Here are two little swatches of the mascara in different lighting. It’s a gorgeous color, but not so dramatic that it would be unwearable. It adds a subtle ‘pop’ to the overall look. I had no problems with this flaking or smudging, so A+ for that!!
Overall, I’m pretty impressed with this palette. The shadows are smooth and creamy, although they do kick up a bit of powder when you put a brush in them, it’s no big deal and they apply beautifully. I found they blending out really well and the lasting power was nice too.
Paula Dorf has 3 different 5-pan eyeshadow palettes (there is a neutral one I am lusting after!).. $36 for each and I definitely recommend them. I absolutely love that this included mattes and I’ve found myself reaching for those with my other eyeshadow looks as well. You can purchase this palette and Paula Dorf’s other cosmetics on their website!
Be sure to use the code TEAL for your free mascara!
