Hello loves! A few weeks ago I did this look for Valentine’s Day:
I wanted to do a step-by-step pictorial type thing but I’ve just been so busy that this post is about all I could do. I wanted to make sure I got it up in time! I’ll be listing all brushes used so although I’m not showing it applied, hopefully you’ll get a similar look!
–
Do your eyes first! That way if you have any fallout, it won’t ruin your foundation…. Apply tape to the outer corners, this helps create crisp edges and it can also help create that perfect wing later on! If you’re struggling with winged liner, angle this in the direction you want your wing and it will help guide you and keep from making a mess. If you don’t have tape, you can just clean up the edges with a makeup wipe at the end!
–
Prime the lids! I used Lorac’s Behind The Scenes eyeshadow primer first with my fingers and then applied NYX’s base in White with a Sedona Lace 941; Synthetic brushes are perfect for applying cream bases. This helps make the shadows even more pigmented.
–
I used a Sedona Lace EB 13 and packed the shade Buff from the lid all the way up to the brow bone. This will help blend everything seamlessly!
–
Apply Nectar with a fluffy blending brush. I used Sigma’s Tapered Blending E40. Build this color up to your liking, all over the crease – you can be messy with this! It will be your transition shade and also assist in blending the darker shades. Don’t worry about getting this on your lids or too high up to the brow bone!
–
Apply Light Brown and Nectar mixed together with a smaller blending brush deeper into the crease. The Sedona Lace EB 09 is perfect for not only adding deeper shades but also blending as you go! Blend, add more shadow, blend.. Keep building up the color to your liking. This adds some depth to the crease! Mixing the light brown with Nectar makes the blending super easy!
–
Next take a slightly denser blending brush, I used a Sigma E25 blending brush and mix Cool Gray and Plum and apply this to the outer corner, blending in circular motions up into the outer crease. Deepen as you go. Try to keep this in the outer corner, bring it up higher depending on your eye shape – if you have hooded eyes, bring it up higher so when you open your eyes, you still see the transition.
–
As you add darker shades, blend with a clean blending brush or you can go in with a little more Nectar to help blend! (lets see how many times I say blend in this post lol) This brush is a Target Up & Up brand brush! I love this for smaller crease work or detailed blending. It’s nice quality and great for those with smaller eyes.
–
Apply Rosé to the lids with a flat shader brush, this is a bareMinerals brush but any flat brush used for packing on color will do! This shade is so beautiful!!
–
Next I applied my liner, I used both a gel and a liquid. First, Maybelline’s Gel Liner with the Real Techniques Fine Liner Brush.
For the wing, I used NYC’s Liquid Liner.
The brush on this is absolutely perfect and the formula on this is incredible! I’ve been using this almost daily. It doesn’t run or smudge so this is awesome for all-day wear!
A wing is optional, of course! If you’d prefer just a thinner line, go with that! Turn this look into what works for you 🙂
–
Another optional step, falsies! I applied Sonia Kashuk’s Full Glam lashes
Revlon’s Lash Adhesive! My favorite lash glue at the moment.
–
Deepen the outer corner with Charcoal and Black. With my hooded lids, I find that applying those darker shades after I apply my liquid liner helps me to place it exactly where I want it and to deepen it without taking it too far out or too high into the crease. I used the elf Contour Brush.
–
For the lower lash line, I basically mixed the shades that I used in the crease! I applied Cool Gray and Plum first to smoke it out and then mixed Light Brown and Nectar to blend it out and add a tiny bit of softness to it! I used the elf eyeshadow brush.
–
I took a brush from CVS, the brand is called Essence of Beauty and it is a little duo set, this brush set is fantastic! And I applied Snow to the inner corner and brow bone!
–
Lastly, a little last minute addition.. I added Urban from the Urban Decay Electric palette with a big fluffy blending brush and just ran this lightly into the crease to add a bit more color, this is that hint of purple that you see in the crease. This is optional, or you can use another shade of purple!
–
And that’s it! I apologize for this being a little all over the place. I’ve been so swamped lately and the way I had planned this before was just not working no matter what I did! One of those days… Weeks, more like it… Haha
For my lips, I used:
Jordana’s Lip Liner in Cabernet, apply this on the outer edges and blend it slightly inward on the outer corners – leave the inner parts of the lips bare! You want this to slightly ombre into the lip tar! I used the shade Hoochie, applied with a lip brush. Blend the two shades together, adding more lip liner and blending as you go! This is much more purple in person than in photos!
–
I hope you enjoyed this! I’ll try to make sure it’s more organized and easier to recreate next time. Life is crazy! Happy Valentine’s Day to you all, whether you’re heading out or staying in – stay safe! I love you all. xoxo.
