A little bit about myself.. My name is Marie; I’m 27 years old, I live in Upstate New York and I’m a licensed Esthetician and Esthetics Educator at a local beauty school. I am also a Makeup Designory certified Makeup Artist, Educator and certified lash technician. I went to school for Esthetics in 2011, graduated in June of 2012 and got my license in February of 2013.. I got into the skin care industry because I love helping people and making people feel beautiful.. I’ve struggled with acne my whole life and although I don’t have the worst skin, it effects my life and self esteem at times.. And I know how it feels to want to hide in your house until your skin clears up, embarrassed for anyone to see you, and to feel like you have no one to talk to, no one who understands or who feels the way you do.. And that goes for many skin problems in general.. I want everyone to feel beautiful in their own skin and love themselves 100%…. And as an Esthetician and Makeup Artist, I try to help people find the best in their skin, see all of their potential – even on the “bad skin days” and better their self esteem however I can. Whether that be with a facial, treatment, makeup application, or even just a conversation.

I created The Makeup Affair for those reasons; to help anyone I can. Whether it be skin care advice, makeup/beauty tips, or to be someone to confide in. I truly care about people and hope that this blog can help even just one person.

My main goal in this blog is to help people, to make connections around the world and build friendships with my readers as well as fellow bloggers. I will post mainly product reviews as well as makeup looks, favorites, as well as the occasional posts about skincare, hair and maybe even a little fashion!

  2. Marie I just got to read your bio and I’m excited as I may finally have someone to turn to fir my skin woes.
    My doctor recently told me I have poly cystic ovarian syndrome and because of this I have been noticing hair fall and sudden hair growth on parts of my face. The doc prescribed the pill as she said it will help balance the hormonal activity but I was wondering if you have any tips or suggestions around tackling the hair issue.
    Do you suggest any hair and skin products that don’t have too many chemicals in them?

  21. Hey pretty girl! I just discovered this site and I’m in love. I have acne and many products cause horrible cysts for me. Are there any sunscreens, liquid or powder you’ve found to work and be good on your skin?

    1. Thank you darling! It’s honestly going to be a lot of trial and error, especially with cystic acne. What works for one person may not work for the next. My best advice is learn ingredients! That way when a product works for you, you’ll be able to slowly pinpoint common ingredients that work for your skin.

  24. Hi Marie!😊 ever since i found your blog, I’ve been reading and reading for days! Its so informational! Every product I’ve ever wanted to know more about is on YOUR blog. Its Awesome 😁. Im so glad you did the Morphe Brushes review, I’ll definitely be picking up some of those. Another product I have wanted to know more about are the makeup geek eyeshadows. I have like a medium almost dark color to my eyelids, so I have to use either very pigmented colors, or really pack them on even after a primer.
