OCC’s Lip Tar All-Star Mini x4 Set:

❀

“This was when I learned that you have to give up your life as you know it to get a new one: that sometimes you need to let go of everything you’re clinging to and start over, whether because you’ve outgrown it or because it’s not working anymore, or because it was wrong for you in the first place.”

Hello beauties!

Today’s review is of a kit from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetic’s for the holiday’s!

lt1The Lip Tar All-Star Mini set is sold at Sephora for only $20 (a $34 value)! These are mini sizes of the lip tars so these are absolutely perfect if you or someone you know has been wanting to try out Lip Tars. The full sizes are around $18 each  so this is an amazing deal. Even these small tubes will last you forever because you use such a tiny amount of product each time.

lt2

lt3You get a lip brush, which is pretty much mandatory when you apply these; You absolutely need a brush to apply them, otherwise you’ll end up using too much product and you also won’t get crisp, clean lines.

The four colors this kit comes with are….

Momento:

lt4

lt4Momento is described as a pink/plum neutral.. It’s a great nude-pink, I was surprised at how much I love this color.. When I saw it in the tube I thought it would wash me out and I’d just use it to mix with the other shades but I actually really love it worn alone.. I think this would look beautiful on a lot of skin tones.

NSFW:

lt6

lt5NSFW is described as a true, balanced red… I’d definitely agree. It’s a perfect red, doesn’t pull too cool so I think this would look amazing on every skin tone! This shade is pretty much the reason why I got this kit, I’ve been eyeing it for a couple years and it did not disappoint! I may wear this for the holiday’s 🙂

Anime:

lt7

lt8Anime is described as a vibrant neon pink….. Yup. It is GORGEOUS! Super bright and I don’t think I own a pink shade like this. It’s beautiful!

Black Dahlia:

lt9

lt10Black Dahlia is described as a blackened red… This is the only shade in the kit that can look patchy on the lips, I have nothing underneath it in the photos but I would definitely pair it with a lip liner (Jordana’s lip liner in Plush Plum would be a perfect match) underneath just to give it a good solid base to prevent any streakiness. This color is super intimidating in the tube but it is a beautiful plum color, absolutely perfect for the fall. It reminds me a ton of Mac’s Rebel! That great wine stain kind of shade, also would look fantastic on any skin tone!

So those are the shades, I am so happy with this and I think I’m addicted to Lip Tars now!

It’s incredible how pigmented they are, you literally need a tiny dot of product and it will cover your entire lips. If you are new to these, I’d suggest using a tiny bit and building it up. If you use too much of this at once, it can easily feather out from your lips. If you use a small amount, it will be a perfect consistency, it won’t feather out at all and it leaves a great long lasting stain. These definitely take some getting used to, the first time I applied them I used too much. It just takes some practice, especially with the brush. They can be hard to apply, just take your time and go slow. I highly recommend grabbing this, especially for a gift for the makeup lovers in your life! For $20, you cannot go wrong and these small tubes really will last you a long time! LOVE!

  1. Argh all these shades look so awesome! Have fun mixing them up. =) I’m really frustrated with Black Dahlia, and how patchy it can end up looking but it looks so perfect when you successfully do two layers of it on – it’s like blackberry juice on your lips.

    1. I was actually going to ask you about that! The first time I applied NSFW I put too thick of a layer on so it feathered badly so I was unsure about doing another layer of Black Dahlia. Does it eventually dry down a bit or should I blot and then do another layer?

      1. I find it’s best to layer thin thin layers of lip tar to get the desired effect. I like patting them on with a finger, then blotting, then applying the second layer with a lip brush. Let me know if that works for you!

  2. They all look so lovely on you! I’m especially fond of Momento, and Black Dahlia too if it weren’t for your complaints regarding patching. Too bad. 😦

    1. You can do light layers and blot between to build up the color. That shade can be tough to work with at first but once you learn how to apply lip tars and as long as you build up the color, the patchiness isn’t bad.
