Spring & Summer Lippies:

Warm weather is finally here! Time for bright colors, pinks and corals! Here are some of my favorite lip products for the Spring and Summertime 🙂

Lip Stains are a great option for Spring & Summer. They are low maintenance, last for hours and are perfect for carrying in your purse or beach bag.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains are some of my favorite from the drugstore..

These are super easy to apply, sort of like crayons.. They have a minty smell and there’s a slight tingly feeling when you apply them. The lighter shades are pretty sheer but buildable and the darker shades have great pigmentation with only a swipe or two.

There are 12 shades and cost around $8.99 wherever Revlon is sold. I own almost every shade but these are the ones I think are perfect for this season!:

From left to right: Cherish (015), Rendezvous (040), Lovesick (020), Smitten (030), Romantic (045)

Cherish is a cool toned light pink, sheer but as you can see above, definitely can be built up.

Rendezvous is a very wearable orange.. If you’ve been playing with the idea of an orange-y lip, try this one. You can apply it very lightly and build it up to your comfort.

Lovesick & Smitten look very similar in my swatch, but Lovesick is a bit lighter than Smitten. It’s very bright and has a slight shimmer. Smitten is a deeper pink, one of my favorites.

Romantic is great for a light wash of red, it gives kind of a kool-aid stained feel 🙂

Revlon Lip Butters are super popular and come in great shades for Spring & Summer.. I only own two, but I definitely suggest them for those ladies who don’t like to wear lipstick, or anyone who prefers a lighter wash of color. These are low maintenance and are fairly similar to a lip balm except even more hydrating, they have a very slight scent but it’s pleasant and can’t be detected once applied.. Color wise – same as the balm stains, the lighter colors are sheer and the darker shades give more payoff. They are $7.49 wherever Revlon is sold.

The shade on the left is Cupcake (055) – a cool toned light pink, buildable coverage.. Looks a lot like the balm stain in Cherish. The shade on the right is Sweet Tart (090) – a bright coral-y pink, nice pigmentation and really beautiful.

NYX round lipsticks are really great and fairly lightweight, they have no scent.. $3.99 at Ulta & nyxcosmetics.com

One of my favorites for this season is Narcissus:

This is another cool toned pink – it’s more bright in person than in the swatch.

Covergirl Lip Perfection lipsticks are really nice, great quality and pigmentation, very creamy and smooth to apply. There are some really beautiful colors in this line.. They do have a scent… I can only describe this as a makeup scent.. I feel like a lot of covergirl products smell this way. Some may not like it, but it really doesn’t bother me much. These cost from about $8.29 – $5.34.. As always, Target & Walmart have them at the lowest price.

Devine (330) is a gorgeous purple – but once applied, it has a slight pink tone to it. This is a really beautiful color and definitely unique to any other lip products I own.

Wet N Wild Mega Last lipsticks are some of the most pigmented lipsticks you can find… Only $1.99!! There are beautiful colors, great for every season.. They are matte and have no scent.. They can be pretty drying, so I absolutely suggest putting a chapstick on underneath and a lipgloss over top can help too.. The dryness is the only problem I have with these though and for such a cheap price, dryness can be handled. The staying power is amazing but will definitely stain your lips.. I applied these swatches a day ago and have washed my hands tons of times since, and there is STILL a stain on my hand! Some may love this about these, while others may not. I personally love lipsticks that stain, that just means even more staying power! 🙂

IMG_3884

The packaging isn’t great, the caps get dirty very easily and some shades only have numbers on the bottom, while others have the name and number.

There are other shades that are great for Spring & Summer but I have a hard time finding the pinks at my stores so these are the two I own great for this season.. On top – Dollhouse Pink (967), below – Don’t Blink Pink (966).. Not for the faint of heart! LOL these are SO bright! Dollhouse pink is another cool toned pink (geeze, I love the cool toned pinks huh?), and Don’t Blink Pink a sort of cherry/watermelon bright pink, this is the one that stained my hand like crazy.

Milani Color Statements… I LOVE these lipsticks.. They are probably my favorite from the drugstore currently. They have different finishes, some metallic so be sure to do your research before picking any shades up. But the pigmentation is great, the staying power is perfect and they aren’t drying. These do have a scent.. Some sort of candy, I can’t figure out what but it is strong. I like it, others may not… Anyways, I can’t say enough about these, I love them. I only have three shades but I plan to pick up many more… By the way, an amazing color for fall/winter is Uptown Mauve – I am obsessed with that color!! These are $5.49.

Fruit Punch (11) – this looks a bit different in person, lighter and slightly more pink. A really pretty and unique color.

Other lipsticks that are perfect for Spring & Summer are the Maybelline Vivids – here is my review and swatches about those:

On to lip glosses!

Revlon Super Lustrous lipgloss – these are some of my favorites in the drugstore. The pigmentation is really good for glosses, they are unscented and not sticky. $7.99 – $5.94.

Top to bottom: Peach Petal, Pink Pop, Coral Reef

Next lipgloss is sort of like a stain.. It starts off wet and is supposed to dry to more of a stain..

Physician’s Formula Sexy Booster – Sexy Glow Glossy Stain… Quite the name haha.. There are only two shades in this, a red and the color I’m about to show.. The red is nice but I haven’t used it enough to say much about it. These are weird and I’m not sure if I like them yet or not, but they are super pigmented and I think they’d be good for this season because of the staining properties to it. There is a slight scent but I can’t describe it.. $9.95

IMG_3907

Love the packaging on these! I forgot to take a picture of the applicator but it’s one of those larger ones, like the Loreal Color Caresse Wet Shine Stains – these are basically a very similar product except the Physician Formula ones are MUCH more pigmented.

IMG_3909

This shade is Hot Pink… It’s definitely a berry color, not a hot pink. It’s very bright and pretty.

—

Next is a NYX Butter Gloss. These have nice pigmentation, a vanilla scent and really do feel like butter on your lips (not sticky at all!). I only have one shade but I definitely want more – I love these! $4.99 at Ulta or nyxcosmetics.com

IMG_3910

IMG_3913

This is the shade Merengue. Gorgeous pink, bright and can be worn sheer or built up for more color.

—

Lastly, another NYX gloss.. Mega Shine lip glosses are nice, some have better pigmentation than others – some are opaque and others have shimmer. A cherry, almost cough medicine scent… I don’t love that but I like the gloss enough to use it anyways. Not sticky at all. $4.99 at Ulta & nyxcosmetics.com

Beige – a warm toned pink, very pretty and nice pigmentation.
